What is the one thing you love most about what you do?
The thing I love most about what I do is seeing the look of shock and pleasantry on the client’s face when they see their space reinvented. It makes me feel so satisfied to take stress away from their busy lives and bring function and happiness to their homes. I think the inside of cabinets and closets can be beautiful and livable at the same time and I love sharing that with other people! Are the inside of my closets and cabinets always beautiful? No! I am a busy mom so there is no way that it can all be beautiful at the same time. Let’s get real. However, every space can have a function and be aesthetically pleasing at the same time. I am definitely trying to teach that to my kids (and husband!).
What is your favorite home trend this season?
My favorite home trend right now is a soothing neutral paint color with pops of color in the form of accessories or meaningful pieces. I also love how inexpensive items from HomeGoods or Target can totally transform a room without breaking the budget. I love to change accessories out seasonally so as to always keep it fresh. While I dream about an all white color palette with soft neutrals accents, it just isn’t me or realistic for my life (but perfect for a weekend away!). Clean spaces that really showcase the fun and function that happens in the home speak to me.
What is your favorite hobby?
As a mom of three there isn’t a lot of free time! Luckily, my job coincides with what I love to do so I consider myself very lucky. One of my favorite things to do is shop for bargains and unique finds at home stores. And don’t even get me started on The Container Store! It brings me pure joy!
I also love to travel to new places with my husband and children. Life is so busy it is rejuvenating for us to get away and experience something new. My kids are getting older (9 year old twins and 13) so traveling is far easier than it used to be!
What is the hardest spot in your home to keep clean/organized/styled?
The hardest spot in my house to keep clean and organized is by far the kitchen. I don’t know about everybody else, but as soon as I get a meal cleaned up it seems like one of my kids is ready for his or her next meal! The kitchen is completely the heart of the home and can easily become the dumping ground for everything (homework, school papers, mail, lunchboxes, etc). But having systems in place helps my kids know where to put the backpacks, where to put their lunch boxes, where to find their lunch containers, organizers to hold their snacks etc. This helps my sanity immensely!
Coming in second place is definitely my kids’ closets! Between the kids throwing everything but the kitchen sink in their closets, their constant growth and seasonal changes, it can be an overwhelming space for many. Staying on top of it helps keep it under control!

Kari and Katie are fantastic, they work together great and are very efficient. I was overwhelmed with old toys, clothes, and a cluttered garage. They helped me purge with great advice and set up everything I with I kept in a way that makes it easier to remain organized. Our house feels like a new home. My husband travels a lot so this was a huge help, he is thrilled with the results. We will definitely be using them again. – Sarah, The Home Sanctuary Client (2017)Sarah | Basement and Garage, Sarah, The Home Sanctuary Client (2017)

The Home Sanctuary has truly made a difference in my everyday life. I never realized how much stress resulted from my kitchen pantry! Kari and Katie organized it in such a way that in a quick glance I can assess what I have and know what I need! It has made grocery store trips more efficient and less frequent! And since most of my grocery store stops come at the end of my work-day on the way home, the less I need to stop and the earlier I can get home to my family. Who wouldn’t be happy about that? I can’t wait to find more projects where they can help me simplify my life and get some time back for the important things!
